In case you haven't figured it out yet, this is the song. I don't think that Led Zeppelin set out to do this, certainly not consciously at least. But it is a rather fascinating coincidence, especially when you consider that an unknown force was said to be guiding Robert Plant's pen as he was writing this song. I don't think that this ruins the forward version of the song either, it's still a great song with a great message.

To me this song isn't just about suicide, it is also about losing friendships you think could have been saved if only the other person was willing to listen.

Yes, it is. And that is an agony many who those who suicide face; if only they could hear; if only we had said the right thing; if only.....

The truth is once someone decides there is not much anyone can say to disuade them. Even before that point, if someone is fairly close to it, there is a slim chance of finding an opening that they may hear you, but it is slim indeed.

This is the agony those left behind face and it sounds like whoever wrote this song has faced it.

Funny- I chose not to connect to this song...but dissuading someone from suicide has been an ongoing daily job for decades for me...

Yesterday was an emotional day for me, at my dad's family home, so this was very relevant...and thanks for that one. Very cool.
