What are you watching right now?
What movies/tv shows are you watching? Today, Justin and I watched Flash Gordon! I love that movie. It's cheezy, has hawk men, lazer beams, and a musical score by Queen. How can that not be awesome??
So, have you watched anything interesting lately?

No, but we have Flash Gordon on the DVR and will be watching it any day. Maybe even tonight! My brother's coming over and we all love that movie!

Tonight? Later on, I'll be watching Pushing Daisies; An Adult Forensic Fractured Fairy Tale is the best way to describe this very original fantasy. There's a lot of wit in it.

Rudolph kicks ass. The abominable snowman, the island of misfit toys...yep, it's a winner. As a kid, the Why Am I such a Misfit song was my farking theme music. Seriously. I so related.

Oh! Namasteheather started a whole thread about that very thing, the residents of the island of misfit toys being an analogy to HSPs and how much we could all relate. Can't remember if it was at Aimoo or maybe The Retreat? I'll see if I can find it.
It's on here too...I'm watching it, or rather listening to it, while I do other stuff

The TNT series "The Librarian" is coming up with its 3rd movie tonight at 8pm eastern standard time. They're repeating the older ones right now. If you haven't seen them, they are in the same action adventure genre as Indiana Jones movies. This series stars Noah Wylie and get this; Jane Curtin and Bob Newhart star in noncomedic roles even though there is some comedy in the movies.

Re: What are you watching right now?
What little time I do have I have been catching up on Farscape. I never watched it when it was actually on tv, but got hooked recently.
Oh, and a great new show this year. True Blood. It's a vampire series on HBO. It is really good. Different from what I thought it would be. It is based on a series of books and follows a character called Sookie Stackhouse. Apparently vampires have come out of the closet and they are trying to mainstream into human society. Get the right to vote, to marry etc. Of course there is resistance on both sides from Vampires and humans. If you get the chance to see it, I recommend it.

Re: What are you watching right now?
I watched a movie by the guy who did Spirited Away. I think his name is mayakazi? Anyway it was called Porco Roso, and I didn't care for it very much. It's a guy who got changed into a pig and flies airplanes and beats up air pirates over the Adriatic Sea. Not the best movie in the world.
Big shopping day today, I'm thinking that if I'm still up for it, I'll watch A Christmas Story tonight. It's just not Christmas without that movie.

Oh, WORD. And it has to be 729 times in a row.

Has anyone else seen the T.V. show, Chuck?
The premise is pretty flimsy, but it's great fun. Chuck is a Stanford drop-out, who works as a computer geek at the local "Buy More." He also "accidently" becomes the government's most vital secret agent.

Re: What are you watching right now?
Yeah, I've seen a few episodes of Chuck. It is a fun show. That one made it while the cleverer "Pushing Daisies" is going into hiatus after they've shown all the previously made episodes. Boston Legal is apparently ending tonight and Star Gate Atlantis is ending in 3 more episodes. Heroes, which I'm still watching is also going on hiatus. I was watching just 4 new shows this season and those were the 4. Oh well.... In Jan. at least LOST and Medium come back.
Reamsie; watching Farscape for the first time. That show is a trip with a definate story line with an ending (the show was cancelled just before the end, so they did a movie to tie it up). Be prepared for an insanely wild ride where everything changes repeatedly.

Re: What are you watching right now?
My son and I watched one episode of "Pushing Daisies," and my son and I enjoyed it. However, the comedy in Chuck probably reaches a broader audience.
I used to watch Farscape, too, and wondered what happened to that show.
We'll be watching Heros, tonight, too. We're thinking of going back and watching the first season, because we missed most of those episodes, and it might help in understanding what is going on.

Yeah....I kinda goy stuck on "Heros"...but lately it seems to be getting into that "chain yanking" thing that T.V. serials must do to keep you watching. My interest only goes so far before [like "Lost"]...I'm lost and looking elsewhere. lol!
I just wish the one's who are evil just stay evil...and vice versa. That stradling the fence thing they do annoys me.

Farscape only ran four seasons and then the Sci Fi network cancelled it. They made a movie to wrap some things up called the Peacekeeper Wars, but that was the end. They moved Ben Bowder and Claudia Black over to Stargate for the last two seasons.
I'm the opposite of you on Heroes. I watched it the first season and then haven't caught up with it yet. The biggest thing I remember from the first season was "Save the cheerleader. Save the World."

I just got done watching the last 2 episodes of Dr. Who online. I found out that on BBC, there is a 2 hour special tomorrow Dr Who episode (entitled--Dr Who 2008 Christmas Special--couldn't they come up with a more original title? lol). Anyhow, it soon should be online.

Re: What are you watching right now?
I just watched A Christmas Story. I just found out today that it was actually the fourth in a series of six films about the childhood life of Ralphie:
The Phantom of the Open Hearth (1976)
The Great American Fourth of July and Other Disasters (1982)
The Star-Crossed Romance of Josephine Cosnowski (1983)
A Christmas Story (1983)
Ollie Hopnoodle's Haven of Bliss (1988)
My Summer Story (1994)
I'm guessing that there's a reason why five of those movies have been almost completely ignored. They don't sound very promising from the way I've heard them described either.

Re: What are you watching right now?
Nucky, "A Christmas Story" is based on a book called "In God we Trust, All Others Pay Cash" by Jean Shepard.
I had no idea they made other movies from the book.
I love that damn movie.
Our family regularly quotes part of it, like
"a ______ (fuse) is out"
"you used all the _______ (glue) on purpose"
"that's real news, not all that politics slop"
"A statue"
"deck the harrs with bahrs of horry, fra, ra, ra, ra, ra (etc)"
and many more, LOL
We even had horrible neighbors that we called "The Bumpis's"

Re: What are you watching right now?
"Fra-geeee-lay!" was the one my sister and I used the most. That and the famous, "NOOOOOOOOO" as Ralphie falls down the slide.
Re: What are you watching right now?
Yes, how could I forget "fra-gee-lay"
Scut Farkess, what a rotten name....
I love it when the little kid goes under the sink and cries "Daddy's gonna kill Ralphie"
THat is so adorable, and HSP. It reminds me of me. LOL

Just finished the Doctor Who Christmas Episode for 2008. Loved it! I still wish they were making a full 2009 season, but I guess I'll have to be happy with the four specials. *sigh*
