Re: Thanksgiving
Trying to cook with half portions? This is the first year one of my brothers won't be making it back for the holiday. In addition to the general that it causes, he's the biggest eater in the whole family! My husband is no slouch in that department, but still, there is no comparison. And my brother brought his GF as a guest every year, since he won't be here, neither will she. So, it should be fun and great and all, just more turkey soup, hash, and sandwiches than I know what to do with- and nobody to foist them off on!

Re: Thanksgiving
My daughter will be joining us. This will be the first Thanksgiving we've celebrated together for several years so I'm looking forward to it.

This will be the first Thanksgiving I can remember that neither one of my two out-of-town sisters will be visiting us.

We're hosting here at my parents house...my sister and her daughter, my brother and his fiance, and my dad's mom and stepdad are coming...That's too many people for me, but the food will be wonderful:)

Re: Thanksgiving
Well there isn't anyone here anymore so it will be just me and my hubby and daughter. I'm making the turkey with my usual cornbread stuffing.
I like nice quiet days.
And of course, I will call all the out of town family.

Re: Thanksgiving
I'm really happy just for the day off and that we are going elsewhere instead of hosting. I am definately not comfortable hosting anything but outdoor summer eve. parties...if even that.
A small quiet dinner with "inlaws" and much needed rest. Phone calls will suffice for my family. Christmas for that!
I am thankful for that always....days off and rest! Mmmm!
Pleasant dreams all....

Re: Thanksgiving
I'm going to be driving my daughter to meet her dad, then driving back and spending the day with just my mom and my stepdad. Luckily I am dogsitting for some people and they are letting me spend the night there. So I get some alone time and so they do for a couple of days.
It is going to be hard to be without my daughter but I get her for Christmas.

I'm looking forward to cooking a meal for my family for the first time in about three years. Usually I get invited, this year I did the inviting. I'm looking forward to it.

Re: Thanksgiving
Just me...
Every year I buy a can of Iams turkey and giblets and make a big deal out of feeding it to Little B. So what if she gets cans every day (and turkey about every third day)? If they made a "Thanksgiving Feast" variety, she'd get that too.

Re: Thanksgiving
It's just my husband, myself and our 4 cats this year. I'm making a nice small turkey dinner and adding a few extra treats for everyone. Then we'll settle down to watch a sci fi movie (I have a few backlogged that I haven't seen yet).
No tension, family drama or traffic this year.

As for Thanksgiving, I would like to express my gratitude for having each one of you in my life. Every single one of you have taught me something and for that I am grateful.
Friends are a treasure whether they be in RL or on the Internet. I am blessed that all of you have touched my life.

Re: Thanksgiving
My dad and sister are not having Thanksgiving this year again. So I decided this year to go elsewhere with my close friend to her son's house. They grow most of there own food and live off the grid so I am sure it will be good food and good company out in the forest. It's a smaller house tho so I hoping I am not too overwhelmed with all of the people there.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Hugs to all!

Re: Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving and we got rain last night and this morning. In the desert, that is truly a blessing and I am grateful. My turkey is stuffed and in the oven happily roasting. Bill will prepare the potatoes and my daughter will bring the other side dishes. Except for the cranberry sauce, which I made yesterday. Now I can just relax. Happy Thanksgiving to all of you. And remember to make turkey soup from all those leftovers. Yum!!
