This is why I've never signed-up for online banking, even if I am on a Mac, which despite popular belief, doesn't necessarily keep you safe all the time!

The most important thing is to maintain security on your computer at all times. Don't be lax about virus protection, spyware, firewalls, etc.

I also don't do business with large banks and financial institutions if I can help it for many other reasons.

According to what I read, it was a Trojan in delivery.

A good anti-virus should be Part I and a good firewall (hardware is best, I use a software one) is Part II to that sort of threat, if I remember correctly. There no such thins as overkill with other 'gate keepers' to supplement - as the best strategy is an 'onion layer' approach.
