Internal spaces we hold and how it affects how we relate to life
I've been noticing something lately.
People, when they are unhappy in themselves will find reason to be unhappy in the midst of good news or good times. They can't maintain that feeling of happiness, it's like they need to return to the more familiar state of sadness. Until they face the cause in themselves, it's hard for them to enjoy what good comes their way.
People, when they are overall happy in themselves will ride through rough times easily and soon recover after they end and are able to fully enjoy the good when it comes their way, find the joy in themselves and love.
HSP seem to show both states much more clearly than those who are not as we feel deeper and tend to be more introspective.
There is much more to this of course, the reasons behind these states. Thoughts?

YOU ARE THE UNIVERSE
If you're miserable with yourself misery is your world.

Maybe its just how people feel no reasons?
[b]Some people don't hold onto causes as to why they are unhappy or miserable, they just are, sometimes they know of course. It comes back to balance within. If pain is high levels, there is not much room for joy and happiness. It will be more fleeting, not deep and lasting. I suppose if you are engaged in something you love and it brings you much joy and happiness, that may build up your stores, but the deeper level of joy flowing at ahigher level than pain will no doubt allow more joy in.

In our natural state of joy, its always there, it never leaves...other emotions may come and go, pass through us, but the solid essence of feeling content and happy awakens even without good news and good times, you feel happy just for being connected to that space within.

Yes I have known some who in that pain state, cannot even smile at your joyful sharing. That shows me how much pain is taking over, how little they have to extend in joy for themselves, let alone anyone else.
There is much more to this of course, the reasons behind these states. Thoughts?

I do not feel people purposely feel miserable, some emotions can awaken things like resentment and avoidance of acknowledging happiness, that can make it feel on purpose. Some times you have to see yourself avoiding feeling happiness or joy to see what you are avoiding..if you just wish to not feel those feelings, you wont let yourself feel happiness or joy while they linger in you.

Absolutely agree with this - Depression has always struck me as a sort of dark tunnel-vision, where one is truly not able to see the light. And even if one is not depressed, but simply has some common aches and pains, those aches become far more pronounced if one is down in the dumps, and soon minor things seem to become irritable. Whereas, if one is in a good mood, those issues aren't even noticed. The trick becomes developing the ability to flip the switch, so to speak, when one finds oneself slipping into that dark space.
