Two strange emails received
One from a 'Bootscoot@siriusK9.com,' and the other from a 'RedCam@siriusK9.com'. Only understood a very tiny bit of the language in which both are written. And two guys apparently share the 'RedCam' account.
As far as I can tell, the three of them are apparently requesting my help. My help in finding a new mate for a human they collectively own as their pet. Since at least two of them believe a new mate would have a calming effect upon him.

Ummm....this whole thing seems dark and kinky. How did they get your email? You might have been spammed by them, and there might be something nasty embedded in the email sent.
I would check your computer out for spyware, ect, even if you do use an old apple.

Re: Two strange emails received
There's this stupid "human pet" craze going on all over the internet right now. It's some kind of chain mail game where the more people you have as "pets" the more you are worth. And if someone "buys" you, you have to give them your password so that they can mess with your profile and email and stuff.
It's really stupid, and dangerous. I don't get the appeal of it at all.

Interesting, in that I've never heard of this game, Nucky. A cat and/or dog 'owning' their owners is an old joke, which as far as I know, is from before I was born, which is a long while ago.nuckinfutz wrote:There's this stupid "human pet" craze going on all over the internet right now. Mel, with a Mac as old as mine, spyware/malware, etc., will take approximately two years to launch, let alone run.
Reb, what have you got against Handel, anyhow? Classical music is good for the soul!

You're kidding -- they are actually doing that kind of stuff -- "owning" other people? Weird. Whenever I get emails or rather spam, and I don't recognize the sender, it gets deleted. There are too many nasty things that can be encrypted within them and I like to keep our computer healthy, thank you kindly.

It's supposed to be a trust thing, it shows that you trust your friends enough to let them have access to your email and myspace and facebook profiles and stuff. But NOBODY uses their best judgement 100% of the time, no matter how much you think you trust someone. What if someone decided to go on a drunken rampage?

Ah. That's why I've never heard of this before. I've never given a rat's rumpus about any of the 'social networking sites.' Signed up for MySpace close to when it first started, because my cousin told me about it. But that account has been 'locked down' by me for at least a year now, and maybe far longer.
As to pets 'owning' their owner, it's something I used to joke around with my mother and father about our family dog when I was a teenager - because it was true! Joked around about it with other friends in their teens as well who had dogs and/or cats, etc. But it didn't occur to me that this was long before the term 'owned' had its meaning changed so drastically by the internet.

my space-facebook-clones....lol! i could be really nastily sarcastic, instead, being more gently sarcastic, i will say what i said elsewhere...if someone wants acknowledgment of their existence, get a mirror...
mirror, mirror, on the wall....
who's the fairest of them all?
it is rebulet, and he shines like the sun!
holy bat, Shitman! lol!
i said i wasn't going to be nastily sarcastic...i lied, huh?

lol, Reb
rebulet, lol - still chuckling!!!!
Hmm, ever thought of doing Romeo & Juliet?
As for 'owned' - I saw it on Facebook, there's an application or something, I thought it was just a silly game though... Never tried it though... thought it silly... (Me! to think something 'too silly' lol!! ) Never had the idea people could actually give e-mail passwords & such... OoO.... May be depending on who you play it with & how... (or how silly you are/how much you let yourself be persuaded...?) Maybe some versions require silk net stockings & brassiers?

Reminds me of my college days, when I did "A Midsummer's Night's Dream"....in American Sign Language! It was fun.

Re: Two strange emails received
American Sign Language is as different in syntax and grammar from any form of English as Cantonese is. We just needed to stay true to the meaning and emotion/feeling of the words.
Lots of body english going on even so.

Re: Two strange emails received
do ya mean 'lots of body middle english'? lol! i bet that was cool; memorizing shakespeare in the best of times is hard enough, much less sign language, and then to go on stage...

Re: Two strange emails received
We have a friend who is deaf due to illness as a toddler. Her parents sent her to a school to learn to read lips and to speak . Even in emails, as in her spoken words, sometimes her grammar is less than perfect, but who cares? She understands and is understood. We love her dearly.

Re: Two strange emails received
the ability for deaf people and blind people to communicate is a wonder. a debt is owed by humanity to allow these people to interface with the rest of us, as many of them add much to 'our world'.
citrine, i dunno if you have been around long enough to have seen me post about 'the reason we all chatter so much, is that here we are, on a rock, going in circles in gosh knows what, and, being kinda scared of the whole affair, we chatter toone another to help keep ourselves calm during the ride'. this is just my opinion, but humans do chatter like monkeys ina tree with a leopard walking underneath....i see no reason that those who are 'hampered' by something not working should not get to chatter with the rest of us...
