I just realised whenever anybody tells me a problem they are having, I relate to them with a story of a problem similar to theirs. 
So this could potentially happen:
Someone: I got abducted by aliens yesterday
Me: Yeah, I had a similar experience once when I had to visit my grandma, what did you have to endure? She kept trying to feed me disgusting cookies.
