Dial This Number Next Time You Get a Telemarketing Call, Then Watch Chaos Reign

LOL, a way to frustrate telemarketers, even robocalls but the instructions for it to work seem to be for cell phones. My land line doesn't have an add call feature for conference calls. There should be a way though.

I ordered an on-off toggle switch from Amazon.com.  Or maybe it's at GrandpaandGranny.com It's called The Trick. You get 2 in a package. It is very inexpensive.  It will only work for a landline, because it must be connected into the phone wire.  It has given me back my peace of mind!!!!  I turn it off most of the time, except when I am expecting a call. I figure anyone who really wants to talk to me will leave a message and I can call them back. It's especially useful when I'm taking a nap, or all night long so I can sleep.

That works! We have ATT Uverse so our phone line is through the gateway/modem and is wireless. But we can turn off the ringer on our phones too and have the machine pick up. However my husband doesn't want to screen calls as he likes to pick up immediately for family and friends. I understand how he feels as I'm an empath and can feel what he's feeling so I let it be.

That's so hard if one is married, and live together. Been there, done that.  When I was going back to college, my husband insisted to the point of being very grouchy, if I didn't get all my study stuff off the floor before he got home from work.  Now I live alone, loving it.

Well, relationships are about give and take. If one person does all the giving and yeilding, they find themselves controlled by the other and eventually things fall apart.

I've been married over 35 years. Believe me, anyone who knows me knows how impossible I am to control; I never allow it. LOL, a way to get back at Telemarketers 479147 My husband and I are both very strong intense people and very much equals.

I let it be when it comes to keeping the ringer audible because my husband is anxious and worried about the health of certain family members so wants to keep in contact with all of them as much as possible. We don't live near any of his family.

Dear melodicolor,  I apologize if it sounded like I was criticizing people who are married.  It's so wonderful that you are your husband are happily married for 35 years.  I always "expected" that to be my future, when I was young, but was disappointed. That was one of two or three life goals. I met most of the other life goals, but that one was major, and it never made it for me.   I guess I was really being a little "tongue and cheek," in my earlier post about living alone.  My experience with marriage has been disappointing to the point of being tragic, I guess you could say.  This state of "affairs" (i.e. being married!) did not work for me at all.  We had some very good times, but they were not worth the very bad times.  Actually, I have never been real good at living with someone else.  Not even with college roommates. I preferred to have a single room when I was a teen in a college dorm, and mostly did have that privilege.  I also like playing music with people who are single.  Several times I've experienced a spouse -- either a wife or a husband; it doesn't seem to matter which gender -- who either worked to prevent the spouse from practicing with the band, or else insisted on being present at band practice whenever their spouse was playing. These behaviors are entirely unwelcome to us as musicians.  We are very happy when spouses and other family members come to performances, but never to practices.

I'm sorry your experience with marriage and living with others was so uniformly bad. Before I was married, I'd had mixed experiences living with others, some horrible, some wonderful. I'd also had mixed experiences with relationships and ironically, when I met my husband, I was NOT looking for a relationship, nor to get married. I had concluded I'd rather stay single for life than compromise who I was to fit in with other's expectations. So within the week of deciding that, I met him of course and we were engaged 3 weeks later and married later that year. Shocked The universe does have a wonderful sense of humor... lol!

I grew up in a tiny apt in a family of 5 with no personal space at all so I learned how to adapt. I then was doing the shared living arrangement once I moved out. When it worked out, it worked out very well and those room mates remained friends even after we moved away.

I am HSP so I do need my space; it's just that I've gotten very good at insuring I get it as a survival strategy growing up.

Hi melodicolor! Thanks for your private email answering my question about not getting in.  Now I am in!  I dd clear out my cache and history earlier today b/c of problems getting into my banking online.  Whew! Stuff, stuff, stuff online all day, and it's not over yet.  First one bank, then another... Well, thanks so much for sending your own story!  I met my b/f at match.com  He initially didn't contact me b/c he figured I would want a musician. But he's a professional artist, so we understand each other's passions for our art forms. We get along so well. He is so sweet to me, and we have a whole lot in common.  Well, I'm going to stop following this thread now.  I'm on another thread....I forget which one, though. Bye for now, see you elsewhere here!
