To all the Americans here: happy 4th of July!

Hope your 4th went much better than mine.

Mine was low key, we stayed home and it rained, which is always nice in the desert.

The day was nice; I had a good friend over from out of town and we had fun as always.

But, after 11 pm and I had gone to bed, someone nearby started shooting off very large illegal fireworks that were exploding too near the ground; I was awaken convinced my backyard was exploding. We figured out what it was and I called the police, who, of course never came. So this went on intermittently until 2:30 am!

Lovely. I'm a bit tired today and just hope it won't resume tonight. This is the first year that something like this was used. Last year, it was sticks of dynamite and it went on for about a month until we found out who was doing it and gave the evidence to the police. That did stop that. This year it is someone different.
