A while back i suddenly realised that it's not just english/dutch which have the same words, but totally different meanings.
I forgot what it was, so i'll stick with dutch/english.
(The bold red is the word in dutch)

Boot means boat in dutch, but it is pronounced in the same way, it does sound like boat in dutch.
toe means "come on!!" or "extra"/"to boot" (as an addition, for instance "We'll have dinner and then a desert to boot"), although it's pronounced "too"
star means rigid
helm means helmet
tree means stair, but it's pronounced like tray, but without the "y"
trap, means flight of stairs, where the "a" is pronounced like in gasp.

edit: it's not that we only need this, but it can also be english/french or spanish/italian
As long as the words are spelt the same, but mean something entirely different.

Interesting how language evolves and changes in different cultures over time.

I love stuff like that. How I wish I knew more languages so I could observe this. As it is, I'm pretty good at spanish, and I'm around spanish speaking people all the time, but I don't really know enough to be able to think of some examples off the top of my head. When they are speaking, I hear a lot of english or anglicized words interspersed in their conversation though.
