Superiority complexes
Many people say that it is best to learn to get along with all types of people, and to never place ourselves above others. But is this realistic? Don't we all have our "deal-breakers" so to speak, things in others that we utterly disapprove of? Is it actually healthy to have a mild superiority complex? At what point does it become unhealthy?
I'll admit that I have a bit of a superiority complex myself. For one thing, I'll never have anything to do with those who premeditatively and maliciously manipulate, use, or con others, and I definitely think that I am above these behaviors and the people who engage in them. I find it futile to try to get along with such people. Do I think that I'm better than and place myself above such people? Frankly, hell yes!
Some say that it's best to learn to deal with everybody no matter who they are, and that we should all be friends and try to get along with each other, but I think that that's pie in the sky myself.

I think it is unrealistic to be able to get along with absolutely everyone. At most you can become a good diplomat and give the appearance of always getting along.
Does this necessarily mean that one has a superiority complex? I think not.

Re: Superiority complexes
I guess it all depends in what way one considers one superior.
For example if one were to consider hsp an evolutionary advancement then it would be highly acceptable to consider one's self as superior. This would be factual as opposed to ego centred.
Obviously a superior attitude based upon an ego judgement is questionable.
As for the people you can't get along with being a good diplomat only works for a period of time after that it's best to avoid them like the plauge unless they become vexacious to the soul.

"Frankly my dear I dont give a damn (if other think I am superior)".
Seriously how can disapproval of something bad is looked upon as superior? So should we start another mass holocaust? I can probably go on and make a "philosophical" justification of my view, but I wont as its a tedious exercise and frankly I dont give a sh*t what these people think anymore. They can go jump off the cliff for all I care.
If you look at my traits list in my facebook, I have listed "fake peope" ie who manipulates other as one of top people I am totally pissed off by.

Errr nucky...dont tempt me!
Thats the problem with us hsp isnt it? We are "weaklings" when come to such hideous things. We who even care for animal feelings (except that Jaw bloke ) how can we pull the lever when their gallow is up.
If the table is turn, I am sure some from the other side would have no sweat doing us in. Make no mistake about that. (Hitler for one would have exterminated us as a weak "race".)

Re: Superiority complexes
im not sure id call that superior complex. you dont have a complex just because you"are" better for not hurting other purposly. that is just a flat statement of truth. a fact of one hand-good people, other hand-bad people. to me that is a statement of fact. and if stating a fact you are a better person for rising above, this dont make it superior complex until you use it in a ill mannor to rub in or gloat. then you have crossed that line.

Re: Superiority complexes
Having standards and limits is not superior... it's just smart.
I also think that, to most people here, we value friendships absolutely. When we finally get to the point where we're not willing to settle... that's healthy; even if it means having very few people in your life.
By the way, who wrote the "friendship rule" that says, for one to be healthy you need to have "friends" and do stuff together? There's only two types of people I know who have enduring "so called" friendships: 1.) They are either "best friends" with a sibling or another close family member; or 2.) They're part of a group that's been "best friends" since high school (and no matter how close you are to one member, as far as the groups concerned, you'll always be an outsider). I'm pretty convinced that neither one of these scenario's are very healthy. So, who are these self-help psychology experts kidding? I'm talking about the ones who are telling people they're not healthy if they don't have friends? Bunk! Why all the pressure because of what "they" think what makes a person whole?

This post has an empty message because somehow I couldnt add any message to it.
To get back to the "conversation", I thought its perhaps better I make it clearer what I meant
by mass holocaust above.
We were talking earlier about superiority may mean speaking of dissapproval of something.
One of the thing most people would speak out against would be the mass holocaust.
It is intrinsically evil. So I was saying are we superior when we speak out against mass holocaust?
If we are then we might as well then allow another mass holocaust. But since this is absurd,
so dissapproval of something bad does NOT equate to having superior complex.
I dont think Nucky nor me believe in the evil of mass holocaust against anyone! We love all people of the world, dont we Nucky!

Whew! Glad you made that clear before some impressionable HSP just decided to run with it. Disaster averted. We now return you to your regularly scheduled posting.
Seriously thought, I'm agree. Having standards and enforcing them does not make a person superior.
