What is HSP?

There is a great discussion going on in the thread entitled "HSP vs. Emotional Sensitivity" in the "Black Hole of Controversy" subforum. Grasshopper introduced some great articles that merrit their own thread as well.

This helps to distinguish HSP from introversion and emotional sensitivity. However, Pat Lunsford in the 3rd article clearly confuses emotional sensitivity for hsp while Jonathan Young mixes up introversion and hsp, for the purposes of explaining both. He knows they are different groups and states they are in the beginning of the article.

In the whole, these articles demonstrate both what we are and the common misconceptions about us, even by authors purporting to write about us.

Good points. Both Lunsford & Youngman are not HSPs but just reporting on observations.

Sarah Dolliver, author of What Everyone Needs to Know About HSPs, is an an admitted HSP and has written lots of other relevant interesting articles:

Post what HSP means to you, including what you like about it.

For me, being able to enjoy all the subtleties out there; the tastes, colors, sounds that others can't hear, the empathic abilities, all of this makes being HSP worthwhile and I wouldn't trade it for anything. I'd feel blind without it.
