While Our HSP Home is Offline,

In any case, I invite you to stay and enjoy our site. Please note however, that most of it is in private forums which you need to register to see. I sincerely hope that the server that is under attack is back up and running soon and that all of the data from Our HSP Home is intact.

From what I've been able to determine, the "denial of service" (DDOS) attack that's currently crippling Forumer's server 19 isn't threatening any of the data on that server. There's no reason to worry that any of the threads on OHH will be lost. Halting the DDOS attack may take time however. It's not an easy thing to stop.

Yes, apparently the data is safe. I just wish they'd activate a backup plan, lol. It's getting annoying not being able to log in.

That's one of the problems of DDOS attacks Safari. To escape the attack they would have to relaunch the server with a new address, which means all of the user links would be broken. In other words, they could bring the server back online, but since it would be at a new address no one would know where it was. And of course, the people launching the attack could simply redirect it to the new address if they wanted to. Ultimately, they need to shut down all the attacking computers (whose users are typically unaware of what's going on), and that takes a considerable amount of time, effort, and a lot of cooperation from local ISPs.

Why would it be allowing some access and denying others? Do you guys think this is by location or by browser/computer type?

I'm using a Mac/Safari too, and I can access the forum now. Thank god. That problem was getting very old. Is anyone here still unable to access? I'm wondering if our other admins can get online since I haven't heard from any of them, nor have they posted on the forum yet...

I can get on OHH as well - so it appears to be back on the East coast of the US at least. Hopefully it will be working from everywhere very soon.

I just checked and I was able to rejoin OHH too. So hopefully, this is finally resolved.

Finally, it appears that everyone can access the board again. Whew. I'm so glad that's over. Thank you guys for offering a safe haven and for sharing news about OHH here.

No, you're not banned. According to the Forumer server status, all servers are online. Maybe it's just a bug in the system. I'm sure it won't last long.

Nucky, and anyone else having difficulty getting into any sites, you need to clear your web browser of temp files and cookies. About 80% of the time, that clears the problem up.
