If you're a fan of zombie movies, or bad horror-comedies in general, you should definitely check out Shawn of the Dead (2004). It contains all kinds of gratuitous violence & gore of course, as all good zombie movies should, but it's all tongue in cheek and rather well done.

Continuing in the zombie movie vein, another classic horror comedy is Return of the Living Dead (1985). clown

Ok, it's time for another terrible movie. And this one's not a gore fest. In fact, this one's somewhat "family friendly", although it's quite moronic. This ones......

Return of the Killer Tomatoes (1988) Extra Happy (IMDB listing) (Movie Trailer)

Believe it or not, George Clooney's in this movie. I'm not sure he mentions it at awards dinners, but he's got a big part, not a walk on. John Astin's (Gomez from the Addams Family) the evil mad scientist. All in all, it's lots of moronic goofy fun, with a more "professional" look than the original "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes" movie.

Thinking of terrible movies, all of Peter Jackson's early slasher movies were great fun.
Particular fav is Brain Dead. (naturally a Zombie movie) Last time I watched it I was crying with laughter.

Oh yeah!! Peter Jackson's early movies were great.

Bad Taste (1987) (IMDb listing)
Meet the Feebles (1989) (IMDb listing)
Braindead aka Dead Alive (1992) (IMDb listing)

Bad Taste is my personal favorite. It just gets more and more ridiculous in a rather childlike & endearing way. I mean really. A bunch of idoits working for the government to stop an invasion of moronic aliens working for an intergalactic fast food company. The Sgt Peppers car was priceless. What's not to love?

Meet the Feebles is quite the tour-de-force of poor taste. Rude, obnoxious, the works. The most tasteless send-up of the Muppets you're likely to find.

And Braindead, or Dead Alive as it's called in the USA, is wonderful as well. The care & feeding of zombie mom. Such a trial for a dedicated son.

I'd add Howard The Duck (1986) to the "so bad it's good" list.

Oooooo, I love all those movies too. Howard the Duck - ahhhh, with a totally "terrible" movie. And Army of Darkness - great stuff. I love that scene in the supermarket at the end. Totally corny, but a perfect ending. Besides, Bruce Campbell is always fun to watch.

As for the 50s stuff like The Brain That Wouldn't Die, The Screaming Skull, and Plan 9 - oh yeah! I'm not always in the mood for cheap 50s movies, but they're certainly a treat, especially if you can watch the Mystery Science Theatre versions. Or better yet, you can make your own commentary, perhaps with a bit of "alcoholic" help.

INFP and I just watched another gem: Little Shop of Horrors (1986). A grade Z musical with top notch SNL comedic talent like Rick Moranis, Steve Martin, James Belushi, John Candy, and Bill Murray. Ellen Greene is so amazing - she plays her role to perfection. She and Rick Moranis are so cute together you just want to cry. What a perfect movie. I was tempted to put this one in the "Great" movie topic, but in truth it's grade Z all the way. Pure camp with precious little redeeming social value to trip over.

Seen little shop of horrors lots! I was under study for the girl playing Audrey when they performed it when I was in High school, so I know all the songs off by heart.

I'm still not sure I'd classify Little Shop of Horrors as a terrible movie. Maybe we need a category for pure camp with no socially redeeming value, that was well made. Tim Burton movies could go in there too as well as Ghostbusters.

They're all just fun larks.

Here's another campy favorite movie of mine - Flash Gordon - complete with lots of over-acting and music by Queen!

Tribute to Flash Gordon

Or if you really want over-the-top, try Flesh Gordon

Flesh Gordon

Xenapoppins posted all of Flesh Gordon in 10 parts on YouTube if you want to watch it. Dr Jerkoff, Dale Ardor & Flesh go to the planet Porno to destroy the evil Wangs devastating sex ray. There's lots of nudity, but mostly it's just very campy fun with grade-Z special effects. The monster in parts 9 & 10 (the climax of the movie) never fails to crack me up.

Flesh Gordon takes me back down memory lane, as does the 1980's version of Flash Gordon, complete with the music by Queen.

Campy bad movies are so much fun....

This one's actually a great movie, and it's been haunting me for a while so I figured I post it. It's kind of a cult classic from the early seventies, and I highly recommend it. I suppose it's a dark-comedy love story with some surprisingly timeless messages.

Sadly, if you don't enjoy Cat Steven's music you may not enjoy the film. His music is used throughout, and is a very dominant theme. For me, that's all good, since I love the music they used.
