Car Obituaries
What were the ultimate fates of those dearly departed four-wheeled friends that died while you or your family owned them?
An 84 Toyota Van my family shared broke a rod, and my parents 02 Chrysler PT Cruiser was T-boned while we were sitting still in a turnaround on a busy highway, the guy just floored it from a sidestreet across the highway and plowed right into us. I have no idea what he was trying to do.

Re: Car Obituaries
Something simular happened to me. My 1989 toyota corolla was totalled while I was driving home from work in 1997. A woman accelerated into the road I was on from a parking lot without looking in my direction. The speed limit on that road was 55 mpg. I saw what she was about to do and swerved into the opposite lane (fortunately, due to a red light at the nearest signal, no cars were in it!). She managed to smash the rear right corner anyway. I just had some whiplash and she took full responsibility for the accident. It was the first decent car I ever owned.

Re: Car Obituaries
I've only had one car truly die while I owned it. That was an Opal, and it threw a rod, utterly destroying the engine. Sadly, the car wasn't in good enough shape for me to replace the engine, and I didn't have the money to do so anyway at that time.
A 1988 Escort that I bought new served me well for 18 years, but I ended up giving it to my son-in-law. Within months he'd ripped out the dash, broke the axle backing into a curb, and it ended up in the dump. I still feel rather sad about that. Somehow I'd rather it had died with me. I know I'm being silly, but it was an old and dear friend.

My little 1983 Ford Laser. Been in the family as long as I had lived in NZ. I inhereted it, but by the time it passed through my hands, the engine was poked. I traded it in for another car and it got cubed

Re: Car Obituaries
my x got my beloved honda civic, with the racing suspension, racing stripe, wide tires and hot motor, because she could reach the pedals in it, and not in the truck...she drove it about three months and 'blew the engine up' moving back to pencilneckvania, where they cling to guns, hondas and religion.....i have no idea did it get a transplant, or was it just turned into tinfoil.....poor thing.....sob...shoulda made her take the truck and look like a spider monkey on a motorcycle....

Re: Car Obituaries
We give ours away . People are poor here. Some use parts to fix their vehicle. Some tow them away as recycled metal for money I suppose.
