Freecycle
There is a way to get stuff for free and pass on stuff you no longer use through an online organization called Freecyle. This is their home site and from there you can find the one in your area. They're even in several countries so check to see if yours is included. This is important, there is no money involved. Anyone asking for money is banned from their sites. They have safety protocols too.
I've been using a few near me and have given away quite a bit of stuff and have gotten free all metal drinking bottles, some clamps used with outdoor activities like picnics and camping and some books. Another member of my HSP group who lives in another city got a great floor to ceiling scratching post and some cat toys. The cat scratching post alone retails in the perfect shape she got it in for over $250. I've seen people request all kinds of odd things and someone will give them what they're looking for. The range of things given away is rather astonishing from kitchen cabinets to furniture to old magazines to rags to free produce from people's yards...you just never know what will be offered. We've given away a twin bed and come computer gear.
Anyhow, I thought this information would be very useful to those of you not already using freecycle.
