are budgies supposed to meow? Empty are budgies supposed to meow?

Is this a common thing? We have a female budgie named Bluebell, and for the last three months or so there has been a kitten (now a young teen) in the house. Blubell will be murmuring away, and will suddenly meow out of the blue...it is a bit confusing at times, scratch but it is kind of cute.

I'm sure Blue Topaz and Ish will have more to say on this, but from what I've read and seen, any sound that appeals to a budgie, they will imitate along with others species of birds with the capacity to do so. That one is mild compared to some I have heard. From other birds of various species;

A human toddler having a full temper tantrum.
A toad 30 feet in the air.
A chain saw.
And of course, birds cussing a blue streak to the embarrassment of their owners...

lol!

So you've now got a catbird.....it is very cute.

LOL My sister-in-law used to manage a pet store, and she ended up adopting a parrot that cursed like a sailor, since no one wanted to buy it...

A catbird...now there's a funny picture.

Awwwwwwwww
MC is exactly right.
That sounds so cute!!

My African Grey meows whenever she sees me. I think it's because I talk in a highly pitched voice to her. So, I am "meow" to her. She whistles to my husband as if he was a dog she was calling to come to her: a rapid "tweet tweet tweet tweet". She also says hello and imitates many different sounds, some of which I'm not sure what they are but I believe are remnants of her past when she was abused. One sounds just like something hitting her cage hard. Another is a scream.

Indeed, it breaks my heart to see both pets and children broken and abused. I'm glad she has a loving home now.
