Board Technical glitches

It seems there have been a few technical glitches happening. For awhile, people were getting disconnected and getting a blank page while online.

Then, avatars and some smileys weren't showing up.

A couple of times, after trying to post, I found myself suddenly logged out and had to log in again.

Now, we're getting reports of posts disappearing.

If you're having any of these problems or any others please let us know, through pm's or here. We are working with forum tech support to resolve these issues.

Please be patient, it may take some time for them to solve the problem, or get back to us.

After a few weeks of this problem going away, it seems the problem of the forum disconnecting and leaving a blank page behind is back. I had a problem with it when trying to post.

Aiden, I saw you mention you lost a post as did you Little Sis, I think, earlier. Was it due to this also?

LOL - I lost my post due to human malfunctioning, (I hit the wrong button) but I did get the white page when I tried to log on a few minutes ago.

I was just over at the forum support forum and discovered the problem is world wide with that host and began this morning over in europe, spread to australia, asia and then north america.

So whatever is going on, it's big and I'm certain the host is working big time to fix this.

Final update. I checked back at support forum and the disconnect problem all the forums were having seem to have ended for now.

As to why they happened?

Just to let everyone know; I was just over at forum support and apparently they are having some server problems and several forums are having trouble staying online this morning; even support forum disconnected while I was there. So we may have that problem today.

Update; they thought they had the server problem fixed, but evidentally not. It's affecting our forum intermittently too. But they're aware of the problem and are working on fixing it.

The server problem has surfaced again; last night at about 6:15 pm gmt-7 our forum went down and was stil down when I went to bed.

It turned out it was 3am our host's time and they were all asleep and unaware of the problem. Dozens of forums went down for several hours. They are obviously back online, but as this is the 4th time or more in the last week or so this has happened, expect it to continue.

Adain, this is really important. Was the post successfully entered and then disppeared or did it just not arrive?

How many posts have you lost recently?

For everyone else, if a post disappears, please let me know immediately, and give me the details. Tech support from our host is trying to solve this; ours is not the only forum it is happening to, but ours is at the top of the list to be helped on it.

As many of you know, the forum went down last night again. Anyone trying to access posts or pm's got a general error message again.

To make matters worse, all the techs had gone home for the weekend and one of forumotion's moderators announced that no one would be in until monday. But the forum was back up this morning; it turns out they called in to an emergency repair service this morning.

I guess our host decided that it was important enough. (All the forums were down.)

So the chat is back on tonight. Hope to see you there.

My post aren't arriving....however before you take this to the big guys, it might have actually been on my side of things rather than a forum issue. I was having problems with people freeloading of my wireless router, and now that one of my friends has fixed that issue for me (Long story, involving lost passwords, stupid unhelpful techies with my ISP). If the lost posts continue to happen, I'll let you know.

In the meantime, we continued to have intermittant short outages here; the server is still shaky as of last night. So we might still have some problems this week.

There was another server crash overnight my time. The good new is that forumotion has now replaced it with a new server! So our problems may be over, at least as far as downtime goes.

But, if any posts disappear after they've been sent, be sure to post it here. One of the more experienced board members of forumotion, Sio, has come over here to help us figure out what is going wrong.

I have a theory.
I just lost a post again, but I think Merlin was posting at the same time as me on the same thread. (It was Reb's HSP theard). I wondering if the lost posts have something to do with potetial crossed posts. One, some times dissapears, because the two posts can't be processed at the same time?

I just reposted a post that I originally did about 5 hours ago and it was successfully submitted. It had disappeared; from the wrong answer game thread.

Well, it's official; the new server is acting up. Last night's outage was wide spread and there have been at least 2 more in the last 10 days that we weren't affected with, but many others were.

I'm not sure how long this instability will last; just know that if the forum goes down, chances are it is not lost, just temporarily sidelined by server problems.

More unhappy udates; the forum has been intermittantly down; it was down again for a little while yesterday about 7pm pst.

And today, another of my posts disappeared, a couple of hours after posting it.

Please let me know if this happens to any of you. Post it here so I can keep a record for our hosts.

We had at least two episodes where the forum was offline due to server problems with our host.

We're not banning right now, but banding, as in banding together.

I just checked over at forum support. Other forums are having ongoing problems staying up intermittantly since Aug. 29th and continuing as late as this afternoon.

So we may experience some problems. The chatbox login problem seems to be related to this as well.

The techs are working to fix this right now.

It appears our host is having intermittant glitches right now with the server hosting the graphics, emoticons and buttons.

Our chatbox looks a bit weird right now and has a few other bugs because our host tried to fix the time warp problem. The best guess is that the resulting bugs will be fixed soon.

You may have noticed that you aren't getting notified of new pm's right now. Apparently, the problem with the chatbox is interferring with that and also causing other glitches.

Anyone know of a good bug spray we can lend our host?

Our host is having some major problems.  It seems we lost all the posts from yesterday, after all the forums with Forumotion crashed.  They were not able to resolve it;  some problems remain.  It is clear we are using a backup copy of our forum made on Saturday.

INFP has moved this thread to this forum.  Before the forum crashed, we were having some major problems with the chat box;  as of friday night, you could log in, but not log out.  The refresh fuction stopped working and I understand that on several forums, the chat box also refused to scroll down, so people had to do it manually.  The bottom bar is also missing.

There was a script problem on the main page, also probably related to the chatbox problem.

Our logo is also missing right now and all last week, graphics, like emoticons and buttons have gone offline intermittantly.

Hang in there, hopefully they'll finally figure this all out.
